Woody Pak is a genre-defying composer, educator, and creative technologist whose work bridges cultures, mediums, and generations. Born and raised in Hawaiʻi and rooted in his Korean American heritage, Woody brings a global sensibility to his work in film, musical theater, and new media. His career spans over two decades of bold, emotionally resonant storytelling that merges traditional artistry with cutting-edge technology.
His film scores include Planet B-boy, The Grace Lee Project, Waikiki (BMI Award Winner), Jeanette Lee Vs., Black Picket Fence, Seoul Searching, Life Risking Romance (목숨 건 연애), Miss Monday, and Girls on the Wall, amplifying narratives from both the mainstream and the margins with a distinctly human touch.
In musical theater, Woody’s long-standing collaboration with Tony Award-winner Brian Yorkey (Next to Normal) on The Wedding Banquet and Making Tracks showcases his talent for translating deeply personal and culturally specific stories into universally relatable experiences. His Korean-language musicals—including The Devil, Equal, and Blue Helmet—have headlined major venues across Asia, often starring K-pop idols and garnering international acclaim.
Woody’s music has elevated campaigns for Google, Disney, Hyundai, and Honda, and his forays into new media include immersive XR and telematic projects with digital artist Bosul Kim (Invisible Touch, Vital Signs). A versatile collaborator, he has worked with global icons such as BTS, DJ Spooky, and haegeum virtuoso Kang Eunil.
A graduate of MIT and The Juilliard School, Woody is based in Boston, where he is a member of the Screen Scoring faculty at Berklee College of Music and teaches in the Composition and Theory Department at the Longy School of Music of Bard College. At Longy, he embraces the school’s mission to integrate artistry and service, mentoring the next generation of composers to make meaningful contributions through culturally responsive and socially engaged music.
